About
Hi My name is Joseph Rutland. I am a second year student at Liverpool John Moores University.
I’m into all aspects of film-making - not just the acting. Since I first started secondary school, I’ve been writing, producing, filming, editing, and acting in my own productions and those of my friends.
I’ve grown in all of these areas because the more you practice anything, the better you get at it.
I believe that LJMU can help me to grow in all of these areas, and take me from being an enthusiastic amateur to a level of professional competency with the kind of education and development I would not get elsewhere.
It’s impossible to overstate how passionate I am about about media creation and production. I love acting in front of the camera, and I love seeing the finished result.
And I love all the stages in between, whether it’s tackling technical problems like filming in poor weather outdoors and creating a convincing soundscape to dub, or brainstorming with co-writers to come up with a killer script.
My podcast project has given me some experience creating, structuring, and editing shows with a very conversational format.
I am very involved with my research, having recently researched and gotten quotes via vox pup for a satirical piece I am currently writing.
For this, I had to talk to many people to find statements. I have experience working together with my co-writers and co-directors, communicating efficiently and effectively.
I also work best with others, both coordinating teams and taking advice and direction well, whilst taking it all onboard.I also watch a lot of movies and TV - I love soaps, documentaries, drama, and comedy. While I’m watching, I am constantly thinking about the production process, and what went into making what I seen on the screen.
